La Couveuse
La Couveuse is a privately owned villa with a garden gate leading directly to a pretty sandy beach in Cavalaire Sur Mer, a family-friend village close to the stylish South of France resort of St. Tropez.
Surrounded by a nature reserve and with uninterrupted sea views from its spacious terraces, this superbly restored Edwardian villa has its own heated swimming pool and five double bedrooms – all air conditioned – making it a dream location for an extended family or group of friends.
You are so close to ‘Bon Porteau’ beach you can be swimming in the Mediterranean within minutes of rolling out of bed. Or you can dive into the salt-cleaned tiled pool before breakfasting on the terrace with one of the finest views on the Riviera.
La Couveuse appears and ‘feels’ isolated but it is, in fact, just a short walk to the shop and restaurants of Cavalaire. Fashionable St Tropez and the pretty hilltop villages of Gassin and Grimaud are a short drive away.
It is easily reached from airports serving the French cities of Nice, Marseille and Toulon or by TGV from London to Avignon and Marseille and from Paris to Toulon and Saint-Raphael.
Cavalaire is renowned for scuba-diving and sailing and a modern marina offers boat and yacht hire. Tennis clubs, equestrian centres and golf courses are nearby. There are also hiking trails and cycle tracks.
Outdoor restaurants abound, from the famous Club Clnq en Clinq on Pampelonne beach outside St Tropez to simple summer ‘pop ups’ serving pots of moules mariniere and locally caught fish. Wine lovers can buy direct from vineyards such as Chateau Chausse and Chateau Minuty.
Cavalaire is also ideally situated for exploring the beautiful hinterland of Provence including Aix-en-Provence, the Maures Massif and the Verdun Grand Canyon. And from Cavalaire's port there are daily ferry trips to the protected islands of Levant, Porquerolles and Port-Cros.
Many guests rarely stray far from this luxurious French villa, enjoying the heated pool, boules pitch and table tennis or walking down the short path to the beach, then swimming round the rocks to the nearby coves.
One family has not missed renting the house for 20 successive summers. Children are especially welcome. The pool has an electrically powered safety cover and is enclosed by safety standard high railings with child-proof locks on all three gates. And there are cots, high chairs, pushchairs and a special ‘Wendy’ house in which to escape adults.

"The house is absolutely fantastic...
... It is a beautiful looking house in a peaceful secluded spot, but it is only a short walk from the town/shops/supermarket.
A gate at the bottom of the garden leads down to the quiet sandy cove - which really does feels like your own private beach at times.
The sea views from the bedrooms, terraces, balconies and pool area are beautiful.
The heated pool is lovely, the bedrooms are big, the huge open plan kitchen/sitting room/ dining room is perfect for groups.
For children there is a separate TV/games room, table-tennis table, table-football, wendy house, games and pool.
All in all, it really is the perfect place to relax and unwind. We loved it. Thank you."
